{April 30, 2008}   Happy Surveying!

Happy Surveying!

Hi, my name is Danielle. Have you been looking for a way to supplement your current income? Have many survey sites built your hopes up only to tell you that you have to PAY for their list!?
Do you want to discover a FREE way to get rewards and earn $1-$10 per survey on the Internet? Well, You will earn extra spending money in no time. I get about 1- 4 surveys everyday in my email.

Have you been fruitless in searching for how to make money online? There are the schemes you sign up for that actually want money from you! Well I’ve been on the web for 7 years. That is a long time to find out how the Internet works, and how I can make money from it.
I believe the secret is online surveys.

They are fun to do, free, you get to give your opinion to popular companies, and get money in the process. Anyone can do it and companies want people on their survey panel. How does it work you say? You go to an online survey company’s website, and they ask you usually “Do you want to join our consumer panel?” You press the link, and up comes a form to fill out with your name, address (so they know where to send the check), email address, age, and other demographic information. Press “Submit”, and they tell you that they will email you when a survey is available.
In one or two days they may send you an email with a link to a survey. They will usually tell you about the prize you will get such as
“If you qualify for this survey, you will receive a $5 check”.
Since “qualify” sounds like an iffy word, it is best to sign up to many survey sites, so you know at least a few of the surveys you will qualify for.
They don’t usually send a lot of spam or junk mail. Surveys sites do not send spam so unless you are signed up to 100 sites, you will only get about 1-5 emails a day for surveys to do. After completing a survey you can wait about 2-4 weeks for your check to be mailed to you, or can acquire points in your private account until you reach a certain amount ($10 or $25). It’s EASY, and FUN, and your actually earn CASH. So start signing up, and remember “A survey a day keeps the boredom away!”

You may be thinking, these survey sites don’t want me taking up their time by signing up for their panels. They probably want professional people that know a lot. Wrong! Most want consumers; people like you who shop at the supermarket, go on vacations, and drive cars. They probably need a large database of people to choose from from different backgrounds and ages. Case in point, I signed up for a site and signed my parents up. They send my parents more surveys than me even though they are in their 40’s and 50’s. So why don’t you go to one of the sites and see how they present their advertisement for people to join their panel. It will usually say “Join our Panel” no catches or spam; and they mean it. I have accumulated the best of the best sites, so you will not be sorry. So sign up now and have a good time giving your opinions (as I am doing here). After seeing the sites and signing up you’re ready to take the next step of finally making money on the web!

{April 30, 2008}   Dallas Contracting Co., Inc. Completes Equipment Salvage and Demolition Project

South Plainfield, New Jersey, October 2005 - Dallas Contracting
Co., Inc., (website: http://www.dallascontracting.com) a
specialized contractor providing demolition, onsite concrete
aggregate crushing, equipment salvage and scrap metal recycling
to various industries, recently completed the salvage of used
equipment and demolition of several structures from a former
insulation manufacturing company in New Jersey.

Dallas Contracting Co., Inc. (Dallas Contracting) was contracted
to perform both interior and exterior demolition services as
well as salvaging used equipment. The inside of the first floor
of the building required interior demolition of all equipment,
piping, electrical conduits and a complete gut-out of the boiler
room. The outside wrecking work consisted of removing several
storage tanks, a silo and dust handling equipment and associated
ductwork.

The interior demolition work began by first removing all piping,
catwalks, duct work and electrical conduit. This was
accomplished by laborers with sawsalls on scissor lifts. A skid
steer was also used to help load out the scrap steel and debris.
Demolition in the boiler room consisted of removing the old
boiler, several compressors and all conduit and piping. This
work was accomplished using laborers utilizing torches on a
scissor lift while a skid steer loaded and removed the materials.

The removal of the above items was done first to make it easier
to rig out the salvageable equipment from the building.
Equipment that was saved consisted of eight (8) 500-gallon
reactors that were previously used by the manufacturer to make
foam. Ancillary pumps and motors were also salvaged. The
reactors were carefully rigged out of the facility and placed on
trucks to be inventoried for sale. Dallas Contracting was able
to offset some of the cost of the project to the client through
the sale of this used equipment.

Exterior demolition work consisted of removing five (5) storage
tanks, one (1) silo, a pre-fabricated steel canopy and dust
handling equipment and ductwork. The dust handling equipment and
ductwork was demolished using a Komatsu PC 220 excavator with a
grapple attachment. Laborers with sawsalls on a high reach were
also utilized to facilitate the demolition work. Two of the
outside tanks were not salvageable and were demolished due to
their age and loss of structural integrity. The outside steel
canopy was also demolished using the Komatsu PC 220 excavator
with grapple attachment. However, the 32-foot silo and two
12,000-gallon stainless steel tanks were salvaged for sale as
used equipment. The silo was dismantled into several pieces, for
ease of transport, using a crane and high reach. The salvage of
this equipment was also used to offset some of the cost of the
demolition work to the client.

The work was completed in two (2) weeks without incident or
injury.

equipment salvage. Additional information on our services can be

{April 29, 2008}   Ready To Lose Your Glasses? Ten Tips To Choosing A LASIK or Laser Vision Correction Center

The world of ophthalmology is one of the fastest evolving fields of medicine. Never before have so many new techniques and scientific breakthroughs emerged in such a short period of time. LASIK surgery, which uses an excimer laser to reshape the cornea, offers millions of people the opportunity to reduce or eliminate their need for glasses or contacts.

Television and radio ads are filled with amazing stories about LASIK surgery as the fast and painless way to correct vision, but stories are also appearing about people for whom it was less than successful. Before you opt to go under the beam, what can you do to help ensure that you will be happy with your results?

The key to safe surgery in any field of medicine is an informed patient. Take a little time and research the LASIK center you are considering for laser eye surgery.

1. Find a doctor by getting referrals from other doctors or from patients who have had LASIK or laser vision correction.

2. Don’t be fooled by fancy advertisements about a particular laser center. Choose the doctor, not the laser center. Find out who will actually do your procedure, then ask about that doctor’s qualifications (e.g., board certification, special training).

3. Choose a doctor who has done at least 5,000 LASIK or eye laser surgeries. What a doctor doesn’t know can hurt you.

4. Ask for information on your doctor’s LASIK eye surgery complication rates. If your doctor won’t tell you, find another one. For top surgeons, the figure is under 3 in 1,000.

5. Ask what measures are taken to prevent infection. Look for a center with a sterile or dust-free operating room. Make sure that disposable parts are not reused. Insist that your eye be thoroughly sterilized, and insist that the surgical instruments be sterilized before your eye laser surgery to eliminate the risk of transmission of HIV or hepatitis.

6. Beware of advertisements pushing “low cost” LASIK surgery. Discount surgery is as good as a discount parachute. The potential savings are not worth the risk of receiving less than expert care!

7. Expect to see very well after LASIK, but don’t expect to see perfectly. Each patient gets a slightly different result. The best surgeon in the world can’t guarantee 20/20 vision. As with any eye laser surgery, results are as individual as each patient. Beware of any doctor who promises 20/20 vision.

8. If you feel like you’re getting a hard sell, you probably are. Go elsewhere. You’re not buying a car; this is real LASIK eye surgery.

9. If your level of nearsightedness is more than -11 or so, implantable lenses will probably offer better vision than LASIK. Consider waiting until the new lenses are available. Ask your doctor about them and other recent advances.

10. While you investigate, don’t lose sight of the benefits: for most people a lifetime of bad vision can be cured in 5 minutes. LASIK eye surgery has improved the eyesight of millions of people around the world.

Some people that enjoy a good poker game at a buddies house on Saturday night also enjoy heading to a casino to play the game. A casino offers not only traditional poker games that are played at a table, but also offers video poker games. The biggest difference between table poker and video game poker is that the machine can be preset to have particular odds as to how often the player will win.

Of course, with a video poker game, there are buttons and virtual opponents as opposed to being able to hold your cards and look other players in the eye. The nice thing about video poker games, is that no matter what version of this popular pastime you enjoy the most, it is likely to be available. If you don’t happen to have a favorite, are new to the game or just don’t know all the rules, keep reading for some of the basics.

If you want to play five card stud on a video game, you will notice that the play is exactly the same as at the table. To start, every player is given a card with the face down as well as one card that is face up. The person that has the lowest card with the face up needs to make a bet of half of the minimum amount or a full bet to initiate the game. In a clockwise order players may either raise the opening bet, fold their cards, or call. Cards are dealt until each player has a total of five cards. Then the fourth card is dealt, and the lowest bet is raised to double the original bet. Finally, the fifth and final card is given to all the players face up, followed with the final round of betting.

In Caribbean Stud Poker, including on video poker games, each player wagers against the dealer and not against each other. To play, each person must pay an ante just to see their cards. Then, if allowed, players may bet one dollar to enter the jackpot. Five cards are then dealt face down to every person that is playing as well as to the dealer, except the dealer’s fifth card is dealt face up. The players now have two options to choose from: they may either place a bet equal or larger than the original ante, or as in any poker game they may fold and withdraw from the current hand, forfeiting their ante.

After all the players have either bet or folded, the dealer then reveals the cards in his or her hand. In order to challenge a player’s hand, the dealer’s hand needs to have either an Ace and a King or better; if no player has this combination, the dealer will fold his hand and the ante is the only amount paid out, with the player’s bets being returned to them. If the dealer has an Ace and a King or better then the player’s cards and the dealer’s cards are shown and the best hand wins the pot.

If you plan on machine washing your hammock start by holding the two hanging end rings in your hands and bring them together, folding the hammock in half. Tie the hammock together with string just below the hanging rings. Tie the hammock together again, at the opposite end, and once more in the middle of the hammock. This should prevent the metal rings from becoming entangled with the string bed of the hammock, and the strings themselves from getting tangled as well. Put the tied up hammock into a pillowcase, and tie the pillowcase closed. Be sure to tie it securely, as the washing machine has rigorous agitation, and you do not want the hammock to come out of the pillow. Use mild detergent to wash your hammock. DO NOT USE BLEACH. After washing your hammock, carefully remove it from it’s pillowcase and untie. Hang up your hammock and spread out as much as possible to dry completely.

If you plan on hand washing your hammock start by holding the two hanging rings in your hands, bring them together, folding the hammock in half. Tie the hammock together with string just below the hanging rings. Tie the hammock together again, at the opposite end, and once more in the middle of the hammock. This should prevent the metal rings from becoming entangled with the string bed of the hammock, and the strings themselves from getting tangled as well. In a large sink or bathtub, immerse the hammock in water mixed with a mild detergent and again, DO NOT USE BLEACH. With your hands, agitate the water until you feel the hammock is clean. After washing, carefully untie and unfold the hammock. Hang up hammock and spread out to dry completely.

After you’re done washing and want to store your hammock, start by making sure your hammock is clean and completely dry, hold the two hanging rings in your hands, bring them together, folding the hammock in half. Tie the hammock together with string just below the hanging rings, and again just above the point where the hammock bed begins, to prevent tangling. When storing, it’s important to protect against moisture, soiling and critters. The easiest way to prevent these threats to your hammock is to use a storage bag made of outdoor, weather resistant, durable fabric that allows the hammock to breath. If you do not have a storage bag, hang the hammock from its metal rings in your garage or basement, or anywhere it will remain dry and out of the way. If you find any mold or mildew when you bring your hammock out the next season, we recommend using a mild detergent.

{April 28, 2008}   Don’t Make These Weight Loss Mistakes

One of the mistakes people make when trying to lose weight is they fail to change their calorie intake. You must change the amount of calories that you consume due to the fact that as you lose weight you are burning fewer calories than when you began. For example, if your body is burning 3,000 calories at the start of your diet you may only be burning 2800 after a couple of weeks. You also have to set realistic weight loss goals of no more than two pounds a week.

Now you must understand that if you want to succeed in losing weight, you have to make changes in your nutrition plan. I recommend burning more calories, because being more active facilitates smaller calorie restriction and milder calorie expenditure drop.

It is very difficult to estimate the rate of the metabolic drop. Here is the general rule: the bigger you are, the smaller the rate of the metabolic drop. The more weight you lose, the more you have to cut calories or increase exercise. If you are overweight you might need to cut just 10 more calories for every lost pound, while if you are lean you might have to cut 60 calories for every pound lost.

Another mistake people make is to overestimate the calories they have burned from exercise as extra calories and think that gives them some kind of cushion to cheat.

Calorie counters mindlessly add the calories burned exercising as “extra” and in some cases, this practice can significantly influence the calorie calculations. Hence, calorie software counts the part of your usual activities that overlaps with the extra activities twice. I recommend ignoring them and just counting that as a bonus.

Training with light weights and endless reps is another big mistake that people make. This is especially true of women who use the lightest weights they can find in many cases and just do as many reps as they possible can. This will not burn as many calories as heavier more intense training will and the more intense training will build muscle giving you an increased metabolism.

Lastly, you cannot use average tables to estimate calories. You have to calculate the calories for your body. Men and women differ. Men burn more calories at rest than women due to more muscle mass in most cases. Combine this with the common mistake of counting all burned calories as “additional calories” and you have a wide range of possible miscalculations.

{April 27, 2008}   “Copywriter Rates, Getting The Facts Beforehand”

Have you ever had the experience of hiring a freelance copy writer only to find that the project takes longer than expected, or that the fees they offered are ‘flexible’ in the wrong way for you to benefit. There is no doubt that copywriter rates differ greatly from one to another. There is very little in the way of a standard rate especially when you are dealing with clients through the Internet. To ensure you don’t get taken for a ride, you need to get your copywriter rates set and keep them that way.

No matter if you are just beginning a project or are half way through, the benefits of having a set contract are enormous. Not only can you save yourself quite costly fees, but you can also count on when the project will be complete, how much you will pay, and, in the end, what to expect. If you are looking for basic rates, then ask for them. Find the copy writer you want to do the work, give them some basic idea of what the project entails and then ask for a quote. Now, before you get your email going, remember to include the word “flat” as in flat rate. By saying, “Here is my project, what is the flat rate you will charge?” you are eliminating the guess work.

Got the contract ready? That is the next most valuable tool you have to your computer. Having every detail spelled out, leaves little room for guess work. Dates, expectations, payment, and even revisions need to be included. It’s just a safe way to do business, no matter if you are the seller or the buyer. Copywriter rates that are flexible or based on a per hour rate are just too difficult to monitor. How will you monitor a per hour rate?

To find basic copywriter rates, you can browse through the listings of copy writers looking for work. There is a safe bet, here. You may want to steer clear of those asking for outrageous sums as they already have an inflated ego. You don’t need that in your work. If they had such a great business going, do you really think they would have to advertise? As for the lowest prices out there, require samples and references before getting too deep. No matter what you do need in the rates for copywriting, you can find someone out there willing to work with you. Just get the guidelines set before the project begins.

{April 27, 2008}   Will You Be Able to Recover from CFS (Corrupted File Syndrome)?

After you’ve finally recovered from the shock of your hard drive
crash, you’ll have to begin the process of recovering your
files. It’s not a fun task, but somebody has to do it. You can
pay a lot of money to hire the expertise, or you can do it
yourself using software made especially for this type of
situation.

Take a bit of comfort knowing that if there’s software to handle
this situation, you’re not alone in needing it! It’s important
to understand that there are different levels of corruption that
can occur on your computer.

You can have a complete hard drive failure which will
disintegrate everything installed on your system. Then there is
individual file corruption which can still ruin your day.

When an individual file is corrupted, it means that the program
that manages the file is unable to access it. Without access,
the file becomes corrupted. There are many ways a file can
become corrupted.

There might be a bad spot on your hard drive that the file
attempted to write to. There are diagnostic programs you can run
periodically to fix these bad spots, but most small business
owners just don’t do that. If the bad spots are not fixed, and
the file gets written to it or partially written to it, that
file is officially corrupted. (However, you probably won’t know
this until the next time you go to open that file!)

Power surges are another big culprit involved in corrupting
files. If a power surge strikes at the moment you are attempting
to open a file, close a file or write to a file, the file will
become corrupted.

Accidentally kicking the big, red power switch on your CPU
likely will corrupt whatever files were open at that time.
Viruses are notorious for wreaking havoc on your files as are
any number of other unexpected and unexplainable gremlins that
attach to your pc on a daily basis.

Many small businesses depend upon the Microsoft Access database
management system to manage their accounting or their inventory,
or their CRM and any number of other business applications which
are database dependent. Imagine how you would feel if one day
you went to enter in a customer’s order and found that
everything you needed to process that order - your customers,
your product and pricing, and even your inventory - was all
gone! How could you recoup?

Or you go to open Microsoft Word and try to open the sales
presentation you’ve been working tirelessly on, and the file
can’t be read. How much money could you potentially lose by not
having that presentation submitted on time, thereby losing the
opportunity to compete for a lucrative project? A situation such
as this could actually put a small business out of business.

And what about those huge, number-crunching spreadsheets you’ve
put together in MS-Excel? You know, the ones that contain all of
your crucial accounting, sales projection, and other financial
data? What would you do if they were lost and you had to
recreate them? Could you recreate them?

There is a way your MS-Access, MS-Word and MS-Excel files can
recover from CFS, in as little as fifteen minutes. That’s right.
All you need is a prescription for OfficeFIX, a file recovery
suite that can fix your damaged MS-Excel files (works on all
versions of Excel), your MS-Access files (version 95, 97, 2000,
XP, and 2003) and your MS-Word files (works on all versions
including Word for Macintosh).

So rest assured knowing that when the dreaded CFS strikes your
business, there’s help!

{April 27, 2008}   Grokster - Rest In Peace

Grokster fought the law and the law won. Having lost in a Supreme Court ruling, Grokster has shut down and settled with the recording and movie industry.

Grokster - Rest In Peace

Facing up to a Supreme Court decision against them, Grokster has settled with the music and movie industries. The company has agreed to pay $50 million dollars in damages and terminate its file file-sharing system. A visit to the Grokster site now shows one page noting the ruling and the intention of the company to come up with a legal alternative.

The decision of the Supreme Court in MGM v. Grokster was a surprise too much of the legal community. Lower courts had almost universally found in favor of Grokster using a theory validated in the 1970s cases involving VCR machines. In those cases, courts noted the makers of VCR machines could not be held responsible for the actions of users. The crux of the argument was the machine could be used for both legal and illegal purposes, so liability could not be found.

In deciding against Grokster, a unanimous Supreme Court upheld this legal theory. However, the Court noted Grokster had actively promoted itself as a method for pursuing file sharing, an act the Court found to constitute copyright infringement. As such, the Court ruled that Grokster could be found liable for copyright infringement. The decision effectively killed Grokster as a business entity.

File Sharing Impact

Although Grokster bit the dust, much of the file-sharing industry continues to function. Companies such as Morpheus continue to do big business and fight the entertainment industry. This is made possible by the Grokster decision, which requires the entertainment industry to show intent to promote copyright infringement on the part of companies such as Grokster and Morpheus. Arguably, Grokster could start a new service tomorrow and avoid problems so long as it didn’t promote illegal file sharing as a benefit of its service.

File sharing on the Internet is not dead. The entertainment industry is in for a big surprise if it thinks this changes anything. Indeed, Mashboxx is rumored to be positioning itself to buy the assets of Grokster. Hmmm…
